About the Role

As a Hyper Virtualization Expert, you will be responsible for ensuring the stable, secure, and high-performance operation of our data center virtualization platforms. Your primary focus will be on Microsoft Hyper-V environments, including clusters, Storage Spaces Direct (S2D), and Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV), as well as the virtual networking infrastructure (vSwitches, VLANs, trunking).

With a solid experience with VMware ESXi and are familiar with HPE server hardware, including ProLiant systems and iLO management, in this role, you will play a key part in maintaining and optimizing enterprise virtualization environments while ensuring reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.

What You'll Do

  • Operation, administration and maintenance of Microsoft Hyper-V (standalone and cluster environments)
  • Management of virtual machines, vSwitches, VLANs, vNICs, Live Migration, and storage allocation
  • Operation and maintenance of Failover Clusters, Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV), and potentially Storage Spaces Direct (S2D)
  • Backup integration and recovery (e.g., Veeam, DPM, MARS Agent)
  • Patch and update management for hosts, integration services, and cluster roles
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting on host, VM, and network level (performance, event logs)
  • Network configuration: trunk configuration, VLAN tagging, LACP/NIC teaming, MTU configuration
  • Storage connectivity: iSCSI / SMB3 / FC – multipathing, initiators, permissions
  • Automation of recurring tasks using PowerShell (e.g., provisioning, reporting)
  • Participation in on-call rotations / service availability (by agreement)

What We're Looking For

  • Multiple years of experience operating Hyper-V including cluster environments
  • Solid understanding of virtual networks (vSwitch, VLANs, trunks, routing basics)
  • Good foundational knowledge of VMware ESXi (vCenter, datastores, snapshots)
  • Windows Server administration (installation/configuration, AD integration, GPO basics)
  • Storage fundamentals (SAN/NAS, iSCSI/SMB3, MPIO)
  • Practical experience with PowerShell (administration tasks, automation scripting)
  • Experience with backup concepts in virtualized environments
  • Advanced German & English skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Veeam, Zabbix, or similar monitoring tools
  • Basic knowledge of HPE OneView / iLO
  • Knowledge of security and hardening practices (e.g., CIS benchmark–like standards)
  • Certifications: Microsoft: AZ-104, AZ-800/801, SC-100 (or successors); HPE: ASE/ATP (Server, Synergy/OneView), Veeam VMCE (optional)
